About.

Me, just before going to get my groceries

I work full-time as a writer and editor for an academic medical journal in Australia. In between coffee-driven work binges, I write, paint, draw, and dream. I love Alan Moore and Quentin Tarantino’s films and screenplays. Besides being regularly published in my career magazine, stories of mine have been published in podcasts (R.B Wood’s ‘Word Count’) and in the long-running Noir e-zine, ‘Plots with Guns’.

My Books

I am currently working on three novel projects:

Hollow Bones – a fast and hard-paced Occult-Noir thriller, set in the Russian underworld of Brighton Beach, New York, which pits Alexi Sokolsky against the demons within and without.
LILIUM – a six-part science fiction story that records the events leading up to the extinction of humankind, and the ultimate futility of war.
Mark of Fire – the first of a three-part dark fantasy series about war, slavery and imperialism in a magically charged world. Facing the darkness is Suri, a traumatised veteran Skyknight, and Richter, a dangerous assassin-monk seeking revenge for a slaughtered township.

About the James

I spent a number of years homeless in the ugly parts of Melbourne, Australia, and somehow managed to avoid delinquency. I went to university on a merit scholarship and went on to earn an Honors Degree in Literature. After several years of freelancing, I worked as a night-shift bouncer at one of the largest casinos in the Southern Hemisphere. There, I spent my nights brawling with drunk ingrates in a cheap suit for most of a year.

Writing is my passion and my obsession. I write every day, either fiction or non-fiction, and wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Western Occult Tradition is a big part of my life, a philosophical cornerstone of survival through times of great hardship, poverty, and ill heath. I consider the Occult in all its forms to be one of humanity’s best gifts to itself.
